Dear AIA Akron,
As the year begins, I wanted to introduce myself as the new AIA Akron President. I am incredibly honored and humbled to have the opportunity to serve the Akron Chapter in this capacity, and I look forward to the year ahead expectantly.
I would like to thank those that served on the 2016 board that will be retiring from their positions. Your dedication to the profession and commitment to the Akron Chapter is immensely appreciated. I would also like to thank the incoming board of directors in advance for their service. These industry leaders are uniquely poised to steer the Akron Chapter of the American Institute of Architects in the 2017 year.
First, I wish to increase AIA Akron’s engagement with architecture students and young professionals in our region. It is my belief that the profession of architecture attracts some of the best and brightest young minds in the world. These individuals are truly the future of our profession, and it is our duty to support them as they embark on an architectural career path. Secondly, I aim to activate our chapter in initiatives targeting Community Development . As practitioners we have the duty to protect the Health Safety and Welfare of the public, AIA Akron must be an advocate for these goals in the broader context of the neighborhoods of Northeastern Ohio. Lastly I am targeting opportunities for greater Public Outreach throughout our region and beyond. Opportunities present themselves for enhanced member communications, collaboration with regional partners, and a greater public presence in our communities.
