AIA Akron is a local component of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). We represent over 170 members in 11 counties of the greater Akron area. Our mission is to organize and unite in fellowship the members of the Architecture profession. We promote the aesthetic, scientific and art of planning by advancing the standards of architectural education, training, and practice, to coordinate the building industry and the profession of architecture to ensure the advancement of the living standards or people through their improved environment.
Its that time of year again…. making all those personal new years resolutions…. now lets work on the news years resolution for your resource libraries!
Take 30 minutes to go through your materials and grab a box or bag, throw them in your car and come on down to 30 N High Street in Akron Ohio from 9AM- noon on February 4th, 11th & 18th! Keep spreading the word to all your local designers and pass this on to at least 5-10 friends!
These are drop off dates for architects, interior designers, construction managers, facility managers, workrooms, graphic designers, and reps to drop off expired specification samples to our facility. Examples of materials include carpet, laminate, wallcovering, fabric, tile, brick, stone, metal, glass, and stock photo books, paper sample books. Binders are welcome, please empty the contents in your recycled paper container before dropping off. Volunteers are needed to help receive, sort, and weigh the materials. Please email email@example.com with the times and dates that you are available to volunteer.

George H. Miller, 2010 President of the American Institute of Architects, visits Kent State to share his firm’s designs and construction stories on such well know projects as The Grand Louvre (Paris), the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Cleveland), Palazzo Lombardi (Milan) and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum (D.C.) amongst others.
The lecture is free and open to the public. Space is limited.
