AIA Akron is a local component of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). We represent over 170 members in 11 counties of the greater Akron area. Our mission is to organize and unite in fellowship the members of the Architecture profession. We promote the aesthetic, scientific and art of planning by advancing the standards of architectural education, training, and practice, to coordinate the building industry and the profession of architecture to ensure the advancement of the living standards or people through their improved environment.

Topic: Design, Bottom Line, and the Environment
This course is designed to discover why material choices are not enough to create a truly environmentally sustainable workplace.
You will explore and discuss the evolution of the Modular Interior Construction Industry from being movable parts and pieces to a design opportunity offering end-users better return on investment and an environmental choice that does not simply create a better class of waste.
Course presenter, Julie Nelson, has a BS in Interior Design, 20 years experience in the industry, and six years experience in modular construction

T-shirt Design and Essay Competition
… AIA Akron’s annual competition for T-shirt Design and Essay writing contest. Come join us for a fun night and see the creativity in pictures and in words as submitted by the next generation. The competition is for grades Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade and Special Education. The purpose of the contest is to help promote an awareness of the roles that architecture and the built environmental play in everyday life. Dinner for members is included in their dues.
