Considine Professional Building Addition Tour

Tour Address: 215 West Bowery Street Akron, Ohio. Park in the Bowery Parking Deck 

5:30  Registration – Meet in the construction field office on the 2nd floor of the building (the ground floor off Bowery Street). All hard hats, glasses and PPE will be provided for the tour.

In March 2017, Akron Children’s Hospital broke ground on a 230,000-square-foot addition to the Considine Professional Building. The new building will bring together all of our outpatient clinics on the Akron campus.

Tour of Considine construction, 1 LU/HSW

There will be a brief project presentation and tour of the 220,000 SF addition to an existing medical office building.

Learning Objectives:

1. Evaluate Lean Principles and how they merge with an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) method during design and construction to maximize efficiency.

2. Observe the advantages of above ceiling rack prefabrication for building systems. They will participate in detailed design techniques using BIM technology to fully understand above ceiling coordination prior to starting onsite.

3. This course will cover how exterior envelopes in building construction can be fast-tracked using prefabricated wall panels. Participants will evaluate wall components to determine what was achievable for construction while maintaining the design intent.

4. This course will cover construction Takt Sequencing utilizing a Last Planner System (LPS) to produce predictable workflow and rapid learning during design and construction.
